LANDSCAPE DESIGN & INSTALLATION

<>

Landscape beforeWith this  new construction home, there were some landscaping plants and hardscapes that needed to be reused. The customer wanted to add some color and find some way of softening the vertical lines of the house.

To help soften the vertical lines, we installed curved ornamental knee walls to the front of the house to give a courtyard feeling, and installed pavers to provide a seating area. Perennials and blooming shrubs will give color to the landscape during the spring, summer, and fall, while low growing evergreens will provide winter interest. Lighting was installed into the walls, and lights along the walkway to give visitors plenty of light at night.

The customer had lived in this house for 15 years and wanted to freshen it up. This was going to be their retirement house, so they wanted to completely remove everything and start over from scratch.

Landscape after

For the front yard, a new entry into the house was proposed, along with extending their porch. A new planter was installed next to the front door along with raised planter beds. The new walk is 12 feet wide at the driveway and narrows down to 5 foot in the middle. Plantings were installed to give the landscape year round color. The trees were installed to soften the house and provide early spring color. Low voltage lighting was installed to accent and light up the walkway.

Landscpe before

The landscape for this house was installed 12 years prior to our arrival. The walkway to the front door was 2 feet off the garage and was straight. There were overgrown evergreens that made it hard to get through from the driveway, let alone see it from the street. The front door was covered up by overgrown burning bush, and the plantings needed to be pruned 2-3 times per year to keep from overgrowing the walkway.

Landscape after

In the after picture you'll see that the walkway now is wider, and further away from the house. It is 8' wide at the driveway and the entire width of the porch. A lamp post was installed as well as lights along the walkway. Grass now goes upto the walk to allow for access to the yard. Blooming shrubs and perennials allow for summer long color and evergreens for winter interest. The walkway now allows for people to walk in comfort to the front door and is visible from the street.

Landscape before
Landscape afterThis back yard was just lacking substance. The 3 season room was recently put on as well as the fenced in deck. There was a swale that went diaginal to the house in the patchy area of this before picture.

In the after photo you can see that the swale area was turned into a dry creek bed with a wooden bridge crossing it. There is also a stepping stone path going through the planter bed leading from the driveway to the back door of the room addition. Plants that grow naturally along stream beds were installed. These plants will add color from early spring through fall. A tree was also planted to give the area shade.
